Let me start off by saying I was extremely frustrated and somewhat depressed when I wrote this song, if you can't tell. I don't condone suicide, though I do believe in personal choice. I do believe the world is grossly overpopulated with humans and that that stems from hyper-capitalism. This song is another song about commidification, but this one is specifically about romance and love and how all these profound romantic notions are sold to us and how that assaults are senses and encourages us to breed when, in my opinion, we really shouldn't. Again though, I believe vehemently in your freedom of choice so do what you want, but I don't have to agree with it. If you really want a legacy, adopt, there's plenty of parentless children in the world. Not to mention what often goes along with those promotions in the mainstream media: Body type, gender roles, etc. It's bullshit. Nature didn't intend for us to be monogamous either, monogamy was most likely started by a state and or religious structure as a simple form of social control. Also we should get rid of the stigma on abortion, it's unfair and dangerous to woman's health. I'm a big proponent of condoms or some form of birth control. Think about all the waste you create in your life, now imagine creating another person who will carry that on; now you're accountable for two whole lifetimes of waste, congratulations. I don't think we should breed until we find a sustainable way to live symbiotically with this planet. Sorry that was a bunch of word vomit but those are basically a few of my ideas on this topic.
lyrics
Is romance a breeding program started by the state and church to keep us coralled like cattle at work?
Promoting the interest of a few
Who say work, work, work, then cave in; all the while a shit eating grin
And for what? To pass on a name?
What's in a name anyway? Promoting pollution for the future's insane
We're selfish fucking assholes
Consume till resources are gona and caugh it out in a cacophonous swan song!
I don't care what you say you better wrap it up
Avoid the zygote or we're all fucked
Love as an industry exploiting our instincts
Detached from nature but we're all animals
We're so fucking arrogant, it's so incredible
I'm so jaded, is there a Hallmark card for this
I didn't think so...
I didn't think so now I'm losing my mind, headed to the slaughter I've got a right to die, is there any other way to pay for these crimes? I don't fucking think so
